Team

Makesthree is a collective of marketing and press freelancers. We create bespoke marketing campaigns to promote live arts, offering a hands-on, friendly and dedicated approach. We manage all aspects of above and below the line marketing activity from planning to implementation.

Makesthree was formed in 2007 by Mark Slaughter, Sam McAuley and Georgette Purdey; established arts marketing freelancers. Arts marketer Kym Bartlett is also part of the family. We are not an agency, but a collective of experienced individuals who work solo and together, depending upon project size and scale.

Between us we work across many artforms including music, theatre, events & festivals, cabaret, dance and in community, subsidised, commercial and corporate environments. From national tours to multi-arts festivals, producing companies to regional and London-based venues, from long-term to project-based campaign, Makesthree takes a strategic approach to effectively find audiences for your work.

A structured, fun and comfortable environment

In 2015 Theatre-Rites worked with Kym on a Communications Consultancy;  she undertook an audit and delivered a strategy that is currently helping us develop a new website and logo. Kym was wonderful to work with, and through a series of meetings she gently guided us through a process of reflection and planning.  She provided a structured, fun and comfortable environment and that rare opportunity to take time out of our normal busy schedules to really focus on who we are as a company, how we see ourselves and how we want to be seen.

We saw tangible results and were really well supported…

“Working with Georgette on Fuel’s New Theatre in Your Neighbourhood project was a total pleasure. She is committed, enthusiastic and proficient. Her support of and great, proactive communication with the extended team was particularly valuable. She was invested in what we were doing and had a real understanding of the needs of the different partners involved and a great strategic oversight of the project. We saw tangible results and were really well supported - I’d recommend her highly."

A wealth of knowledge and experience

I’ve enjoyed working with Kym over the last 8 months. Warm and professional, she has a wealth of knowledge and experience. She quickly grasped the culture of Battersea Arts Centre and the organisation’s key values and objectives. Kym’s help shaping our 6 year communications strategy has been invaluable and, as a mentor, she is great at providing practical ideas for every day challenges that are quick and easy to implement.

They offer a personal and bespoke relationship

Working with Makesthree is always a delight.  They offer a personal and bespoke relationship based on their detailed knowledge of the touring sector. What they don’t know about regional venues is not worth knowing!
